Studi Pengaruh Kesadaran Hukum Masyarakat Pesisir Desa Tanjung Limau terhadap Literasi Maritim untuk Mendukung Sustainable Ocean
Abstract
Muara Badak coastal area has the potential for natural resources and biodiversity that can attract tourists’ attention. This potential allows the area to be developed as a tourist destination in the Muara Badak District. The local community manages some beaches in this area. However, coastal areas still face the problem of damage to marine ecosystems caused by illegal fishing practices and garbage problems. About 6 hectares of coral reefs in Pangempang, Tanjung Limau Village, have been damaged due to fishing activities. This damage occurred due to using bombs, trawls, and seines by fishing boats in the coral reef growth area. One of the challenges in coastal resource management is local communities’ low awareness of and utilization of the potential of coastal resources in their daily activities. This study aims to determine the level of legal awareness of coastal communities on maritime literacy, such as the use of environmentally friendly fishing gear, the prohibition of throwing garbage into the sea, the importance of complying with regulations regarding the sea, and coastal resource management to support the Indonesia Sustainable Oceans Program (ISOP). This research applies a descriptive qualitative method, which includes observation, data collection, data analysis, and conclusion. The results of this study are that most people already have a level of legal awareness of the importance of complying with rules regarding the sea, coastal resource management, and the importance of protecting the coastal environment that can support sustainable fisheries and livelihoods of coastal communities, build healthy marine and coastal ecosystems, and reduce marine pollution in supporting the Indonesia Sustainable Oceans Program (ISOP).
